Covenant Care welcomes an unusual addition to its team of clinicians and professional support staff. The post-acute care provider, well known in Northwest Florida for providing hospice, home health and Alzheimer’s care, now has hired its first professional chef. Michael Gordy, the culinary expert who has worked on movie sets and cooked for famous actors, is the now the Executive Chef for The Residence, Covenant Memory Care Center, in Pensacola, Fla.
After graduating salutatorian at prestigious Johnson and Wales University, Gordy worked with a catering company on the sets of several movie productions before being hired as personal chef to Robert Redford. He was also the first Executive Chef at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, where he was recognized as one of the top chefs in Tennessee. Michael is well-versed in both gourmet and home-style cooking, and most recently served as chef at a retirement facility for nine years.
The Residence Memory Care Center opens its doors to the community beginning January 2018. A secure and supportive community, The Residence is designed to enhance the quality of life for those with memory loss. Residents enjoy excellent care and elegant amenities, including a music room, on-site theatre, serenity room, as well as screened-in porches with rocking chairs and secured outdoor walking paths with views of a beautifully landscaped courtyard.
