Become A Volunteer
We welcome your involvement as a community volunteer for Covenant Care. You may choose to join as an individual or to register your group. No formal screening or training is required, just the desire to provide one-time or ongoing support that does not involve direct volunteering with patients and families or access to patient information. Community volunteers simply complete a one-page information form and connect with the branch office nearest you. How do community volunteers help? They do yard work, build ramps, cook, bake, sew, quilt, crochet, assist with fundraising events and more!
Covenant Care Trained Volunteers
Volunteers are the heart of our organization. Trained volunteers provide day-to-day support to patients and families and for our offices, departments and programs. At Covenant Care, it’s hard to tell an employee from a volunteer, because volunteers are involved in every area of service. We also welcome professionally licensed volunteers to offer your skills and experiences. We promise to help find just the right place for you. Here’s what you have to do:
- Screening – All trained volunteers go through a screening process that includes a background check and reference requests. Contact the Volunteer and Community Relations Manager nearest them to schedule an interview prior to attending a training class.
- Training – Provided in a class setting and online, volunteers may complete either a two-hour basic Orientation or an eight-hour Patient and Family Support Volunteer Training (required for those who will have direct contact with patients). Patient and Family Support Volunteers must agree to a minimum of 50 hours of service during the year, or roughly 4 hours per month. Specialized volunteer training is offered beyond the initial training based on interest.
