Camp Connect is a healing bereavement day camp for children ages 6–17 who have suffered a loss or those who have a terminally-ill loved one.
Camp Connect in Pensacola is Saturday, June 5, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Pensacola Blue Wahoos Stadium located at 351 W Cedar Street, Pensacola, FL.
This free camp helps children find laughter in their tears, strength in their fears, and a helping hand in their journey through grief. It gives children the opportunity to explore and express their emotions, equips them with a better understanding of their grief, and offers ways of coping with their feelings — all while making connections with others who have experienced a loss.
Losing a loved one is especially hard for children. Before they graduate from high school, one out of every 20 children will lose a parent — and that number doesn't include those who experience the death of a brother or sister, a grandparent, an aunt or uncle, or friend. Many children simply haven’t developed the skills to cope with tragedy.
This camp is an opportunity for kids to have helpful tools needed to understand their grief and cope with their feelings, while making connections with others in similar situations. Through confidence building exercises and artistic activities, Camp Connect helps children find laughter, strength, and helps in their journey through grief. Thanks to generous community support, Camp Connect is free and open to any child in our community.
