Beginning March 2, Covenant Care will provide palliative care services for patients at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee. Palliative care is specialized medical care that focuses on providing patients with relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness. Palliative care is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness, and can be provided along with curative treatment.
“Palliative care can give our patients meaningful relief when they are being treated for serious illnesses,” said Jeff Mislevy, President & CEO of Covenant Care. “This partnership with Capital Regional Medical Center will help us improve the quality of life for patients and their families.”
Palliative Care is provided by a team of specialists, including doctors, nurses and social workers who work together with a patient’s other doctors to provide an extra layer of support.
“Introducing palliative care at Capital Regional Medical Center builds upon the excellent care our team has provided in the region for many years,” said Mislevy. “We want to be there for our patients in every chapter of their life, and palliative care definitely helps improve the quality of life for our patients and their families.”
Access to palliative care is easy — it’s covered by most insurance, and patients just have to request it.
